Subject: [firstname]: Your content marketing won't work without this

Hey [firstname]!

I've saved this until last because it's far and away the most important part of any content marketing plan.

You MUST use social media.

I'll say that again: YOU MUST USE SOCIAL MEDIA!

Why?

Because it's just so darn effective!

Right now, there is no better way to get your content in front of so many eyeballs.  Think about it for a moment: All those people walking around like zombies staring at their smartphones aren't playing Candy Crush Saga.  They're spending time on social media!  And wouldn't it be great if they were reading your content and visiting your website?

So what social media platforms should you be on?

Without a doubt you should be on Facebook.  I know Facebook has gotten a lot of flack lately, but the truth is there's probably no more efficient and effective way to reach the sort of people you want to reach than FB.  Get your post liked and shared enough times and it can spread exponentially. You can even kickstart things by taking out a FB ad that only gets shown to your target audience.

Then there's Twitter.  Given the limited number of characters, you obviously can't put a lot of content on Twitter, but you can use it to let people know about your latest article, blog post, YouTube video etc.  If it gets retweeted enough times, it can spread like wildfire.

The same goes for a picture on Instagram.  It even uses hashtags like Twitter and integrates seamlessly. 

If your ideal customer is a woman, then Pinterest is the place for you. Likewise, if you're marketing business to business, posting a comment or article on LinkedIn will get you noticed.
